Liverpool Tier 3 lockout rules confirmed as Boris Johnson announces pub and gym closures

The prime minister confirmed the news in a speech to Parliament today as the city of Liverpool region was placed at Level Three.

Liverpool will undergo tough new measures to help stop the growing cases of coronavirus in the city region.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson confirmed that the region would be under the toughest measures in a speech to Parliament this afternoon.

Johnson described a new three-tier system of local blocking measures for England.
Different parts of the country will be divided into "medium", "high" or "very high" local coronavirus alert areas under the new system
Liverpool have been placed in the category "very high" or " Level Three."
Johnson said:" the number of cases has quadrupled, more people in the hospital than in March, deaths are already increasing.

"We can not let the virus tear and we can not return to the National blockade, so we have followed a balanced approach to keep the R Open to keep schools and the economy open.
"I don't want to keep people from having fun, but we must act to save lives.
"If not selected each person with the virus will infect three others, the R is between 1.2 and 1.5.
"We have to go further and now we will simplify the measures in a phased system.

"I have spoken with local authorities in the Liverpool City Region and will move to the very high alert level starting on Wednesday

"Pubs, bars, gyms and leisure centres, betting shops, casinos and adult gaming centres will be closed.
"I would like to place on record my thanks to Steve Rotherham for his cooperation in very difficult circumstances."

Knowsley has the second-highest rate of coronavirus in England, rising from 485.9 to 669.5, with 1,010 new cases, and Liverpool ranks third, where the rate has increased from 504.4 to 598.5, with 2,981 new cases.

Today local leaders confirmed that they had spoken with the government and that the following measures will be placed in our region.

The following establishments will be closed, meaning members of the public will not be able to visit:
• Pub
• Bar
• Fitness
  Shopping
• Casino
  Adult play centres

It will be illegal for households to gather.

Travel outside the area will be discouraged, but will not be made illegal.

But Liverpool Mayor Joe Anderson has said the restaurants will be open until 10.30 pm.

It is not known how long the measures will be in force, but it can be for six months.

The government believes these measures will help stop the spread of Covid 19, reduce infection levels and relieve pressure on hospitals in the region and the NHS.

After his speech to parliament, Johnson will speak to the nation tonight at 6 p.m. along with Chancellor Rishi Sunak and medical director Chris Whitty.
