Beaches in the Alicante province

Please note: At the time this article was published, these beaches were closed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

One of the best things about being in a country where it's more warm than cold is to be able to enjoy a beach pretty much all year round. The sea never gets freezing, it always seems to stay at an average temperature.

And it's not only that! Beaches are perfect for relaxing, playing, exercising... Anything you want. As long as your not a hater of sand, which believe it or not, a few people are!

Beaches in the Alicante province

We will start with the most popular beach in Alicante itself:

Playa del Postiguet

Beautiful beach that runs next to Alicante. Has a walkway around it, some rocks to sit on, and a few bars next to it, so you can sit and enjoy the view.

It has a few kids play areas on the sand.

Not only do you get a nice view of the sea, but also have a clear view of Alicante Castle.

Now heading up North of Alicante:

Playa del Poniente

This beach can be found in Benidorm, just up from Alicante.

A very long beach, and plenty to do! There is water sports, many bars to choose from and you can make a holiday out of it and check out what Benidorm has to offer.

Playa de Levante

Another beach that can be found in Benidorm, just down from the Poniente Beach.

This has a beautiful promenade that goes along the beach.

Playa de San Juan

This beach is located in San Juan, not far from Alicante itself.

Known for its very fine sand and clear water. It's great for sport on the sand, its got volleyball nets, football goals, and areas to practise windsurfing.

And more for the smaller ones, its got a few play parks on it too!

Playa de Campello

Campello beach is located between Alicante and Benidorm.

Its a much quieter beach than most, as Campello is quite a quiet place.

Although that said, it has a nice selection of bars, restaurants and shops alongside the beach, so definitely a place worth visiting, especially if you want more of a relaxed experience.

Playa de Villajoyosa

A beach that is smaller and less known than most others but still has a lot to offer.

Located between Alicante and Benidorm, this little hidden beach is a great place to spend the day.

Playa de Altea

Located just further up from Benidorm, Altea is a gorgeous place to come and visit.

The beach is lovely and it has a few bars and restaurants along the front.

Playa de Calpe

Next beach up from Altea.

Calpe is special because not only does it have a lovely beach, it also has a beautiful rock in the sea which is lovely to view.

Calpe is a town with a lot to offer.

Playa de Denia

Next beach up from Altea, you can find Denia

And now heading down South of Alicante:

Playa de Arenales del Sol

Heading down the other way from Alicante, the next beach along is near the town of Arenales del Sol.

It's a beautiful calm little town, with shops and restaurants.

Playa de Urbanova

Playa de Urbanova is a few km from Alicante.

It's nice and relaxing, always a quiet place to go.

Its got a promenade that goes along the beach, with a variety of restaurants and cafes, and a couple of shops.

On the beach itself, you can find volleyball nets and playgrounds for children.

Playa de Santa Pola

This beach is a bit further away from Alicante, next to the town of Santa Pola.

A beach with views, nice clean and fine sand and always a nice sea breeze.

Apart from the beach, Santa Pola is a lovely town to visit.

Playa de La Marina

This beach can be found next to the town of La Marina, Elche.

Its normally quite a peaceful beach, with a restaurant and a cocktail bar.

La Marina is a nice town to visit as well.

Playa de Guardamar del Segura

Next beach down from La Marina.

Guardamar beach has a nice walkway and beach to match.

In some places of Guardamar beach, you can practice water sports.
