A safe health corridor for travellers between the United Kingdom and Benidorm tourism which, under the slogan Benidorm Island, operates during the autumn and allows to recover that main market for the Alicante Costa Blanca. Benidorm presented this Wednesday in an event in which all the administrations involved have participated and that has aimed to "resume tourism activity" and bring to the British market Benidorm's aspiration to "offer happiness" to its visitors, according to the mayor of the city, Toni Perez.
'Benidorm Island' poses "a safe destination in bubble format and extraordinary measures" in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic that consists of " switching the quarantine test on the only 'island' operating for the British market during the winter on peninsular territory". This condition of almost being an insularity "is what really defines the behaviour of British tourists on holiday in Benidorm".
The Secretary-General of the Benidorm hoteliers (Hosbec), Nuria Montes, has explained that the project seeks the Spanish and British authorities "grant the exception and Benidorm can continue to operate with professionalism, safety and guarantees".
The regional secretary of Tourism, Francesc Colomer, has pointed out that Benidorm Island "reinforces the idea of unity between administrations" and "breaks out like a polar Star that marks the direction for all".
For his part, the president of the Provincial Council of Alicante, Carlos Mazon, has emphasized that the offer is "safe" and "will show that in this tourist bubble can enter with guarantees and safe protocols".
"Benidorm as the capital of the Costa Blanca and through this pilot experience, noting that it does not stop nor waiting for developments but continues to work in the revival tour of the city," continued the president, who has emphasized that the Provincial Council of Tourism and the Provincial government "support unequivocally this initiative."
'Benidorm Island' includes weekly testing of workers and public workers linked to tourism to ensure the best health conditions.
